A Few Baby Shower Games
Baby shower games provide a memorable experience for both the mother to be and her guests. Before starting the fun, it is a good idea to go around the room, allowing each guest to introduce herself and tell how she knows the mother. From there, let the games begin!
Do not say BABY!
Required: Ribbon and Safety Pins
Put several pins on the ribbon and tie it to make a necklace. Each will receive one of these necklaces as they arrive. Explain that the object of the game is to NOT say the word “baby.” Each time someone says the word the person who catches the flub gets one of her pins. At the end of the game, the person with the most pins is the winner.
Guess the Size of Mommy’s Tummy
Required: Rolls of Toilet Paper
Give people a roll of toilet paper and have them tear off the length that they believe is equivalent to the girth of mommy’s tummy. Each person takes a turn trying to put their length of toilet paper around mommy’s middle and the person who comes the closest to being accurate wins.
Baby ABC’s
Required: Pens and Paper
Give each guest a pen and a piece of paper. Give them five minutes to write down an infant or child related item beginning with each letter of the alphabet. For example, A – Apgar test, B – Bottle, C – Crib and so on. The guest who gets the most words (one word per letter of the alphabet) wins.
This can also be done using the letters of the mother’s and father’s first names. Have guests write down an infant related word that corresponds to each letter of mommy’s and daddy’s first names. For example, S – Swing, U – Ultrasound, E – Embryo.
Bottle Race
Required: Baby Bottles, Juice
Give each woman a bottle filled with juice. On your mark, each woman starts drinking the juice from the bottle just as an infant would. The woman who empties her bottle first wins.
These are just a few of the more popular baby shower games, but there are many more you can play as well. The key is to be creative and have fun!
