Types of Cookware Sets
Cookware sets refer to the containers and vessels that are used in the kitchen for cooking. Cookware sets include all the containers that can or cannot be kept in the stoves. According to the type of use the right cookware is selected. In earlier times, cookware was produced from mud which gradually switched over to metals. The first metal that was used in the manufacture of cookware was iron and then came the stainless steel vessels which are now widely used through out the world. In certain parts of the world glass and ceramic vessels are used for cooking.
The first method of cooking was by direct frying on fire; later stone vessels came into use. But there were certain disadvantages with the stone vessels like slow heat conduction and heavy vessels. So the use of potteries came into existence. Mud utensils were made in different shapes. According to the shape they were named as pans, bowls and pots. The shape of the utensil is selected according to the type of cooking. Pots were generally used for boiling while pans were used for frying. Cooking done in mud vessels has a good flavor and it is suggested in recent time for some kind of medical treatments.
Cookware sets in metals are the most widely used containers in recent time. The use of metals in cookware is mainly due to the heat conducting behavior of the metals. It is an inherent property of metals and hence good heat conduction will enable quicker cooking. While cooking in metal pans care should be while handling it. For this purpose synthetic handles are used which will enable safe handling. Glass containers are used mainly in microwave oven cooking. Some glassware break when kept directly in flame so care should be taken while handling them. Therefore selection of the cookware sets mainly depends on the type of cooking.
