VINTAGE COCKTAIL DRESSES
Recently, fashion has seen a huge reemergence of 1950′s structured dresses. Vintage, 1950′s inspired cocktail dresses are perfect for evening or daytime events, and flow easily from the daytime summer party to the evening dinner date. The most popular style is the A-line dress with a tight bodice, usually with a halter, strapless, or otherwise embellished sleeve. This classic design is feminine and flattering to almost every body style. It defines the waist and hides any lower-body problem areas.
Another popular style of vintage cocktail attire is known as the rockabilly dress. It is fitted to the body from the halter to the bottom hem. This type of dress resembles a mermaid or trumpet style, but without the flared skirt on the bottom. This particular style is best suited to women with hourglass figures, as it hides no flaws. Slim women also find rockabilly dresses flattering, as they accentuate the waist and bust area. Women with extra weight around the midsection should avoid this style of vintage cocktail dresses.
