Any dentists you visit will tell you that you need to brush your teeth regularly. While your dentist can help you to flag up any issues, and can give you a thorough clean and anything else you need there and then, they can’t brush your teeth for you every day and so that is ultimately up to you.

Of course you probably recognize the importance of brushing your teeth, and you probably realize that it will benefit you in lots of ways to put some time into brushing well. However young children do not always know this, and that then means that they can end up trying to avoid what they see as an inconvenience and making excuses not to clean their teeth.

So the question is, how do you motivate your child to brush their teeth and how do you get them to do it properly?
The first tip is to start off by brushing your children’s teeth for them. Once they get old enough you can let them take over, but in the meantime you are better off helping them to do this properly. When they start on their own meanwhile you should stay in the room with them at first and this way you can make sure they are doing it properly and you can direct them if they miss any areas. Setting a timer for about 2-3 minutes can be a good guide and almost make a game out of it.

Likewise you should also look into how you can use fun characters and franchises to make teeth cleaning more enjoyable. For instance you are likely to notice that there are lots of themed toothpaste tubes and brushes that you can get for your child. For instance if they like Transformers or Ben 10, then you can get toothpaste with those characters on it.
