Many people have different garage storage ideas in their head when they head out shopping for the first time for what they would like to put in their space to help improve their storage. For some people, the way the units look up close or the price of the units can cause them to quickly reconsider what they want to buy. In many cases, people fall back to the more traditional types of storage for the garage such as garage shelves or garage storage systems. A third choice that people often consider are garage cabinets. Because cabinets have more features than most of the other storage units, there are several things that you want to be on the lookout for before making a purchase.
Cabinet base – for the bottom of the unit, there are typically three options, you can go with a flat base, a base that has wheels or a base that legs. The best choice is to go with a unit that has legs on it as long as they are adjustable. Having legs that can be raised or lowered is very important since most garage floors will not be 100% level. In some spots they may even be uneven. In those situations, having legs that can be adjusted will allow the cabinet to remain flat and the items inside the unit are safe and secure. Wheels are not really a good choice except for maybe one unit. That unit is something that you would move around the garage with you if you were working on projects or working on the car and needed to have tools by your side at all times.
Cabinet shelves – usually you have two options here, fixed shelves or an adjustable one. Just like with the legs, having a shelf that can be moved gives you more flexibility which is one key aspect when it comes to storage units.
