During pretty much the entire 20the century, asbestos was used widely in a broad variety of products throughout the United States. Primarily we find this material in construction, building and insulation products. In the 70s the government started to regulate the use of asbestos because it became apparent that more and more people got sick due to the fact that they have been exposed to the toxic fibers of the material.
However, people in the thousands continue to get in contact with asbestos, either at their working environment or even in their homes. This can lead to asbestos cancer, or better known as mesothelioma, and also a number of other serious health conditions such as lung cancer and asbestosis.
